Self Study – Take Your First Step

Start Your Self Study Journey from Anywhere

Self Study is your first step into the Human Potential Training Journey. It gives you stories, tools and reflection practices you can access from anywhere in the world, at your own pace, without needing to travel. Through media created in the Chilcotin Ark and our Trails to Empowerment community, you begin exploring who you are, what you value and what kind of life you want to create.

Self Study

Who Self Study Is For

Self Study is designed for people who feel a pull toward something more but are not yet sure what that looks like. It is especially relevant for self-motivated adults who are questioning their current lifestyle, work, relationships or direction in life. If you sense that there must be a way to live with more meaning, nature connection, responsibility and freedom, Self Study gives you a safe, low‑risk way to explore what that could mean in practice.

This is for you if…

  • You want to explore human potential and wilderness‑based living before committing to a trip or immersion
  • You learn well through stories, reflections and media you can revisit in your own time
  • You are ready to be honest with yourself about your patterns, choices and values
  • You are curious about the Six Principles and how they could change your everyday life

How You’ll Learn

The Self Study library brings together many different kinds of media so you can learn in the way that works best for you. Each piece points back to the same foundations: the Six Principles, nature connection, conservation, self‑sufficiency, empowerment and conscious awareness.

The Frameworks Behind the Stories

As you move through the Self Study library, you will gradually be introduced to the frameworks that appear in every higher level of the Training Journey. These include Maslow’s Hierarchy, the Conscious Chart, the 7 Habits, the 5 Levels of Leadership, the Meaning of Life inquiry, the Six Principles and the Is vs Choice concept. You will not need to master them all at once; instead, you will see how they appear in stories, examples and reflection questions so they become part of your natural way of thinking.

What You Focus On with Self Study

Learning Focus:
The focus of Self Study is awareness. You begin noticing your own thoughts, habits and decisions more clearly, and you experiment with applying the Six Principles in everyday situations. Through all our media options, you explore your relationship with nature, work, conservation, conscious interactions, health and your long‑term direction in life.

Core Elements:
Core elements of this level are self‑directed exploration and honest self‑reflection. You decide which media to start with, how deep to go and how quickly to move to the next. Exploring this media will prompt you to identify where you are living by default, where you are already making conscious choices, and where you might want to change. These media can help you to connect more intentionally with nature wherever you live, even if you are not yet in the Chilcotin Ark.

What You Can Expect to Gain

After engaging with Self Study, most people notice a clear shift from “default living” to choice‑based living. You gain language to describe what feels out of alignment, a deeper understanding of your values and a sense that you have real options for how to live. You may not have all the answers yet, but you will have enough clarity to see where you want to grow next and which patterns you are ready to leave behind.

  • Greater self‑awareness about what drives your decisions
  • First experiments with new habits and perspectives
  • A clearer picture of what a wilderness‑based, values‑driven lifestyle could look like for you
  • Motivation and confidence to commit to the next step in the Training Journey

How Self Study Leads to Online Courses

Self Study gives you the first taste of the Six Principles, Is vs Choice and the wider Chilcotin Ark ecosystem, so you can experiment with new perspectives at low risk in your current life. As you read, watch, listen and reflect, you naturally notice gaps in your knowledge or patterns you want to change. That awareness becomes a strong motivation to move into Online Courses, where you can follow a clear structure, deepen your understanding and develop specific skills that support the changes you want to make.
