The 500 Year Plan – Leave a Legacy, Make an Impact Now

The community has a 500 year plan to ensure our Six Principle impact can continue into perpetuity. Our 500 year plan shows how our philosophy and wilderness environment interrelate and how they will continue long into the future as part of a strong community through our business partners and our contribution to the bigger picture through conservation of the Chilcotin Ark of British Columbia, Canada. We are always growing and evolving, looking to the future and to create a long term impact.

The plan began in 1918, through our family history and businesses, so we are already over 100 years into it.

Our goals for the next 395 years are:

  • Continue to grow the community as more like-minded multi-generational people join our community to continue our work into perpetuity
  • Study, train and implement the Six Principles in all activities that we do
  • Use Maslow’s hierarchy of needs to assess our self-sufficiency, continuing to refine this to remove our need for external systems. Examples of this are producing more of our own food, developing mechanical skills and learning more about wild edibles
  • Continue to expand on our personal development, refining and implementing our interests, goals and purpose. We are always learning more and know that there is never a point where we stop learning
  • Increase our consciousness and awareness of ourselves, others and the natural environment. We use the consciousness chart as a measure of our growth, increasing our conscious level by 200 each century
  • Expand our conservation efforts from the Chilcotin Ark to British Columbia, then North America and then internationally to allow us to have a greater positive impact on the natural environment
  • Continue spending time in nature to maximize our nature connection, implementing naturalist philosophy. This will continue to increase our motivation to continue conserving the natural environment as the more time we are in nature, the more connected to it we are and the more we care about it
  • Continue developing our empowerment through self-directed action, expanding our knowledge and implementing a culture of empowerment. Through the Lead Mare and Intentional Work concepts that create our empowerment culture, we are always sharing our knowledge, helping all our community members become more empowered

We know that change begins within, so contributing to the 500 year plan is the perfect way we can all have a positive impact and leave the Chilcotin Ark in a better way than we found it.
